Action Packed Weekend

We had a busy busy weekend.
On Saturday we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and head up to Quartz MOuntain in the morning. The kids both fell asleep on the 20 minute drive on the way up, so we detoured and went an extra 45 minutes so they both would get a little zzzz's.

So by the time we actually started hiking it was almost noon. Good thing I brought along plenty of snacks for the kids, because they were hungry! We stopped about 3/4 up the way of the mountain for the kids to eat. Ben carried Ethan in the hiking pac for most of the way and Bella walked except for when we went straight up the mountain, I took Ethan in the Bjorn and Ben carried Bella. They were great little hikers. Bella really held her own and LOVED hiking!

Check out this little DIVA in her hiking attire!?

On Sunday, we went to the carnival in town with our new friends Danielle and Hayden. Bella and Hayden have become great buddies, just like Hayden's mommy and I. She is such a precious woman. It was SO SO SO HOT... like 98*, but the kids managed to have a great time on the cars and the carrousel.

My little Man and y BIG man!
Then after the carnival we headed back to church for a very special event:
Danielle's Baptism! A new Christian, Danielle is so eager to please and sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. She wanted to make a public profession of faith and follow in Believer's Baptism. It is so exciting to be apart of Danielle's walk with the Lord and HER STORY. These are moments she (nor I) will ever forget.
Way to go Danielle, we are so proud of you.
Pastor Jeff and Danielle before heading into the baptistry.
In the 'pool' as Hayden and Bella called it. They were both very intrigued with what she was doing.
We celebrated after with pizza and cake at Pizza Hut.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come"
2 Cor 5:17
I am so thankful this expression of faith is so life changing. A symbolization of our old self and sins being washed away and new person being lifted out of the water. A commitment and personal realization that the blood of Jesus Christ can be so life changing and life giving.
I will never forget my baptism on April 14, 2002 and the people who were there to celebrate with me. I am still thankful to this day!

Lots of Milestones!

There has been a lot going on in the Shaub Household...
BIG NEWS!
In the past three weeks, Ethan has gone from only being able to sit if we put him in the sitting position.... to being able to sit up on his own in his crib. I went into his room in the middle of the night and he was just sitting there. It shocked me a little. But I was so proud of him, I picked him right up.

Then he started to pull up to his knees in his crib (holding on to his rail)... Is this not the cutest face you have ever seen????

This past week on Tuesday... Ethan decided it was time to take a few crawls.
WAY TO GO ETHAN! We are so proud of him!
We went to the park on Friday... it was such a nice day. I captured this little video of Ethy going down the slide...
Ethan going down the slide at the park. He just LOVES going down the slide by himself. He is usually more aggressive with throwing himself down the slide then in this video... He was a little conservative this time.

OKC Zoo

We took a family trip to OKC a few weekends ago and headed to the zoo. Oh how it will be nice at some point to live in the same vicinity as zoos, museums, parks, activity centers and such... But for now, we have to drive 2 hours up to OKC. I really do like OKC though! It is a beautiful city with LOTS of amenities. The city reminds me a little of Calgary, my hometown. So in hindsight, driving two hours, really isn't that bad!
Bella is at the age, where she gets the zoo. She was so excited to see the snakes and spiders (definitely didn't get that from her Daddy). As well as the elephants and lions. She walked, almost the whole time we were at the zoo (over 2 hours)... anything to stay out of the stroller. By the end of the day, she did get a little tired and ended up in the stroller with Ethy for a nice smooth ride.

A Surprise Hello

I had an ultrasound today... Random and a little silly for the doctor ordering it, but surprisingly we were able to see our sweet # 3. The ultrasound tech was the same lady who did our 20 week ultrasounds with Bella and Ethan. Technically, she wasn't supposed to show or tell me anything about the ultrasound. But she was so nice and not only talked about it, but brought Ben and the kids in to see the baby. At 14 week, its a little too early to tell the sex of the baby. But we sure did see everything else. The ultrasound was so clear (my bladder was nice and full) and we could see baby so well. Just for the record, I think we are having another GIRL!
But then again my track record may speak for itself... Wrong both previous times. So who really knows.
Here is a list of things that are the same/different about this pregnancy compared to the others:
  • Have more zits, pimples and blemished= Same as Bella
  • Facial hair growth is BAD (I know... pleasant, tweezers are my best friend!)= same as Bella
  • Hardly gained any weight= Same as Bella (3 lbs to be exact... before I got sick, and then I lost 2 1/2 pounds, haven't weighed myself since my doc apt last monday, so who knows I could be up 5! With Ethan I think I had already gained 15lbs at this point and was showing by 8 weeks. Can't tell I'm pregnant at this point!
  • We have a girl name picked out already... If Bella was going to be a girl, we knew her name would be Isabella, we struggled with a boy name up until the last minute... if she had been a boy, we would have had to decide on a name in the hospital. With #2, we always knew he would be an Ethan. We struggled with a girl name and finally decided upon Sophia Maire (glad he wasn't a girl... because I'm not a huge fan of that name now). We really haven't discussed boy names, but at this point I know we would have a hard time with it. Ben's input: Schmeagle and Schmitzy... honey!
  • Bella calls baby a girl and her sister all the time (I think she's right)
  • I did spot with this pregnancy= same as Ethan
  • No mornings sickness= same as both
  • I have had CRAZY MUST HAVE NOW cravings with this pregnancy= I remember having some cravings with Bella but not nearly this bad... don't remember having any cravings with Ethan
  • Been able to keep teaching my spin classes= same as both
So there you have it... My mom was right both times and she thinks this baby is a girl... But then again, Steve Ben's Dad was right both times too and he thinks baby is a boy! I still think we are going to find out the sex at this point... Only 6 more weeks until we will know. How exciting! I just loved seeing this little baby and can't wait for her to join our family in September. Who will baby look like? What will her personality be like? Regardless, we will love this baby just the way God makes her and the way we love Bella and Ethan. It sure will be crazy... 3 kids in 3 years and 3 months!
Here are a few pics the tech gave us.

Can't Pinch these 2!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
It was only 92 degrees here today!!!! So I thought it would be time for a photo shoot.
Bella and Ethan definitely were in their fine St. Patty's Day GREEN attire. Actually, this has been Bella's outfit of choice lately (I think this is the third time she has worn it this week... she calls this her princess dress).
They sure are getting super cute! Ethan wasn't too interested in his lollypop this time. Maybe it was because I broke his getting it out of the package. They sure do make a good prop! I love it that you can finally see some of his teeth!
Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Debuting this Fall!

Most of you have probably seen our new side bar and or my Facebook status post about our new addition. CRAZY! I am so thankful that we can trust and know that God is in control and that this baby was planned and that the Lord already knows everything about this little one. What a comforting feeling. This was taken a month ago at our ultrasound... I don't think I was so excited to see a baby and a heartbeat on the screen, as I had quite a bit of bleeding and spotting (before we actually knew we were pregnant) and were even told by the base doctor that he thought we were having a miscarriage. But there he or she was... as big as a raisin with a heartbeat! What a miracle! Only the Creator could come up with something- someone so amazing.

We are now almost 12 weeks along and I feel great. A little tired, but I think that can be attributed to the kids being sick and not sleeping well. Afternoon siestas have been my favorite thing... and I have been taking full advantage when the kids sleep at the same time (which they do on most days).
I have had the weirdest cravings this pregnancy... different then either one before. Here is what I have been craving:
  • BMT subs from Subway on Italian herb and cheese. I can down a foot long no problem!
  • Apricot jam... can't get enough. I have two pieces of toast with (sugar free) apricot jam every morning. I literally could eat them for every meal.
  • Rotisserie chicken. Yummm!
  • Orzo pasta salad (anything). One day it was greek orzo salad, and the other day for lunch it was orzo pasta with chicken, spring greens, grapes, craisins, and pecans.
  • And my new secret love JOE.... A cup of Joe that is. My mother in law is so proud! Every morning Ben leaves what is left of this coffee (still in the coffee pot) and I have about a half a cup mixed in with my hazelnut cafe mix ( so really I'm cheating... but at least its a step)... and Boy does it get things moving... if you know what I mean.
  • Chobani yogurt with walnuts!
  • And now that Easter candy is here... Those darn Cadbury mini eggs.
