Baby Shower

Some wonderful ladies from our Sunday School class held a Baby Shower for little Isabella tonight. We played some fun games, ate great food, chatted and just had a wonderful time.

Isabella received the cutest PINK outfits, blankets and accessories. We are very excited to have PINK clothes to fill her closet now.
Isabella wants to thank Valerie, Kim, Jenny and Tara for organizing, hosting and baking for her special shower and I also want to thank everyone who has given us so much love and support in celebrating our sweet baby girl. Through the birth of our daughter I am realizing just how blessed we are to live in this little community and to have such a wonderful home Church with Godly people.
Here are some pics from the BIG event!

One Week Old!

I can't believe that our sweet girl is a week old. Time has gone by so fast...

Little Isabella has been such a wonderful baby. She eats like a champ, sleeps really well, and hardly ever cries. It has been such a blessing in this recovery time for me. I couldn't imagine having a fussy/ colic baby right now.

Here are some pics from our first week!

My first PINK outfit!

I have been getting up and feeding every 2 and a half hours, as our little muffin's jaundice levels are a little high. Other then when Isabella's eating, she has to sleep on a paddle that emits this blue light to help with her jaundice. She doesn't seem to mind it though.

We gave Isabella her first sponge bath today (she was looking a little greasy)! She seemed to like it.

Introducing....

Isabella Susie Shaub
06.16.08
8:06pm
7 lbs 6 oz
20 inches long

First off, sorry it's taken so long to get up photos, I 'thought' the hospital had wireless... But I'm sure you all understand!
Well, after 15 hours of labor (only 5 hours of it was actually hard) Ms. Isabella Susie entered into this world. Our birth story was a little traumatic (which, I will write some details later), but the most important thing is that our little GIRL is here safe and healthy!
We are so thrilled to have this blessing from the Lord. Isabella has been the best little baby (so far). She is perfect in every way. It is amazing to me that she is ours and every time I look at her and marvel at God's goodness and His grace. It is amazing how you can have so much love for someone so little. Ben and I are both so thrilled that she is finally here!
I have to tell you all, that Ben and I were both shocked when SHE popped out. I kept repeating "It's a GIRL?!" Ben did a stellar job with me in the delivery room and even held my leg and cut the cord!

Isabella looks almost exactly like me when I was born: Like a little Eskimo baby with chubby cheeks, squinty eyes, with LOTS and LOTS of dark hair. Ben is a little disappointed that Isabella doesn't look more like him. He keeps on trying to find something on her that resembles him... I think she has his lips!

We are so thankful for all of our dear friends and family who thought about and prayed for us on Monday. You are all such a blessing to us!
Here are some pics of our beautiful little Isabella! Enjoy!

Surprise!!!

I'll keep it short!

This morning at 5:00 am I woke up with a cramp in my belly. Went to the bathroom, lost my mucus plug, my water broke at 8:00 (as Ben was walking out the door for work, I said, it feels like I just peed my pants, I wonder if my water broke), called the hospital and they want me to come in for observation, my mom casted my BIG belly at 9:00 and now its 9:40 and we are finishing up a few things here and then heading to the hospital to have our baby! Oh yes, and all the while contracting every 10 minutes!
Pain Level: Hurts a little but VERY Tolerable
We would definitely appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers today!!!

Here are a few pics from this morning!

Stay tuned for the BIG news!
40 weeks and 2 days! Taken this morning!

40 Week Appointment!

Well I had my 40 week apt this morning... And I have NO news to report!
The doctor actually said that the baby's head decided to come out of my pelvis. It's still down, just not engaged anymore!
I have been having some contractions, but nothing regular or painful.
So... with that said, I have an apt next Wednesday for a non-stress test and another check up.
I have to admit I was very disappointed after the doctors appointment...
Waiting 40 weeks is hard enough to meet this little baby, and to have to wait for longer... I don't think it's too fair! I told my Mom that I don't even think they should give you a due date because its so anti-climatic once you get to the "due" date and nothing is happening.
Anyway, my Mom flew in yesterday. So she is here to wait with us!
Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted!

One Last Getaway!

With no power, food, and AC Ben and I decided to head up to OKC for one last rendevouz just the two of us. We weren't alone in our thinking though, as many base friends weren't liking the 85 degree heat in our homes either and ended up in OKC aswell. We stayed right downtown for Saturday night and had a great time with some friends!

39 Weeks!

39 Week update: The Waiting Game

Our baby seems to like being in my belly. There is no sign at this point that our baby is wanting to make his/her debut anytime soon. No exciting news to report from my 39 week apt!!! I find myself calmed now by the fact that our baby is just taking his/her time and is now not officially going to come early!

No complaints to report either... I am still able to sleep just fine and feel great! I've been walking lots and swimming too!

We are definitely getting more and more excited about the arrival of our baby! We can't wait to meet him or her!

Take Shelter Now!

This is what I heard over our Weather Radio on Thursday night!
I was home alone (well with Peety and baby in belly) on Thursday night and the base sirens went off. I knew a storm was coming, but I didn't know how bad it would be. I went and stood by our weather radio in our bedroom to listen to what the command post on base was going to say... and this is what I heard:
"This is a Tornado Warning. A tornado is headed directly over Altus AFB coming from the NE. A tornado for Altus AFB is immanent. Take shelter now! I repeat, take shelter now!!!"

At this point a little panic sent in and I grabbed Peety, a few pillows and a blanket and headed for the only room in our house that does not have an exterior wall... The bathroom, and I got in the bathtub! About 10 minutes in the bathtub, and the power went out. I could hear the wind and rain blowing against the house and it did seem quite bad. The house was shaking a little, but I did not feel like the roof was going to blow off, which was good!
I stayed in the bathtub for about 30 minutes and then called Ben who was supposed to fly that night to ask him if it was ok to get out of the bathtub?!?
Needless to say Ben didn't fly and came home to a HOT house as our electricity was still not back on, thus our AC was not in action!

Friday morning we went out to survey the damage on base and in town and this is what we saw...

We JUST got our power back on last night... Sunday! So we spent 3 and a half days without electricity! We had to throw out all the food in our fridge and freezer. This picture was taken after Ben already threw out the melted ice cream, Popsicles and thawed meat!

June Card Swap

I was busy making cards all morning. I sat down at 10:30 and didn't get up until I finished all 12 cards at 1:45. I couldn't believe how fast the time flew by! As I was sitting there, I was wondering why my stomach was growling... and when I finally finished, I realized why, as it was almost 2!

There wasn't a theme this month. So I used this Katie & Co. Maternity stamp that I have been borrowing from my friend Dawn. The other day she called to see if I had it, and sent me on a wild goose chase to find it! Obviously I found her stamp that I STILL had from before we moved last November. Anyway, since I have to give it back, I figured I would use it to make my cards for this month (because its just so cute)!

I made a whole bunch of variations... some pink, blue, green and orange. I think they are sooo cute. I'm going to make a few more, so I have some on reserve when I return the stamp to Dawn. Thanks Dawn for letting me borrow your stamp for so long (whether it was your choice or not).

Ben and I have our LAST baby class tonight, so I can't make it to the card swap group. But my friends Bridget is taking my cards for me and collecting the rest of the ladies cards for me. I'll post a pic of all the cards when I get them.

Pool Time!

The base pool opened last weekend!
It has been so wonderful now that the weather is in the 90's if not over 100 degrees most days. Twice last week I went with Klara and Faye to swim laps during adult swim. It is so nice being in the water feeling all BIG and some what of a beached whale. I find that the workout is just as good as working out in the gym too.
Ben and I have also been a few times to enjoy the pool amenities and weather. We have races down the slides... Ben wins, as I try not to go too fast and slosh the baby around in my belly! But I keep telling him to watch out, cause once this baby is out...I'm going to beat him!
